'Criminal Minds' to End With Season 15 on CBS
CBS' long-running series Criminal Minds is on its way out.
The network has renewed the cop drama, a relatively reliable performer for CBS, for a 15th and final season. The upcoming season will be 10 episodes long and will be shot on the heels of the current season.
By the time it wraps, Criminal Minds will have completed 325 episodes, making it one of the longest running TV dramas. The crime series, which is show-run by executive producer Erica Messer, follows an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, attempting to anticipate their next moves before they strike again.
Created by Jeff Davis, Criminal Minds is also executive produced by Mark Gordon and Breen Frazier. Stars on the show include Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez and Daniel Henney. ABC Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios.
Criminal Minds suffered a bout of controversies in recent years. In 2016, actor Thomas Gibson was fired from the show after 11 seasons following an on-set altercation with a producer. And more recently, Variety reported that that the series' longtime director of photography Greg St. Johns was allowed to remain in his job despite allegations of abusive behavior and a subsequent investigation by the state of California into the claims.
Messer, for her part, has a pod deal with ABC Studios, where she will continue to create original dramas under her Erica Messer Productions banner.
