Tessa Thompson (Creed, Selma, Dear White People) is reportedly joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok, while Dr. Jane Foster actress Natalie Portman is said to be sitting out this installment.

According to Deadline, "Thompson’s character in Thor: Ragnarok will be a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well."

THR reports that Portman will not return as Thor's love interest and that Thompson's role could be the film's female lead in that case.

Thompson will first shoot Annihilation -- opposite Portman, ironically -- before seguing to Thor: Ragnarok. Deadline claims the third Thor movie begins filming in July, while THR says it starts in June.

Taika Waititi directs Thor: Ragnarok. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Jaimie Alexander, and Cate Blanchett.
