Hot off its debut at New York Comic-Con, the comic book series Wytches has been acquired by New Regency for Plan B to produce. The series is written by bestselling and Eisner Award-winning author Scott Snyder and illustrated by award-winning artist Jock. Snyder and Jock will be executive producers on the feature film adaptation.

Unveiled this week at Comic-Con, Wytches follows Charles Rooks, a loving father who moves his family to a neighboring town in an attempt to help their teenage daughter Sailor recover from a disturbing run-in with a bully. She remains haunted by the traumatic incident, unsure of what actually occurred in the woods and unable to escape a darkness growing around her. When Sailor begins to see familiar shadowed figures, Charles must help his daughter survive a terrifyingly real and mythic presence rooted within the woods and the surrounding local towns.

Wytches becomes another in a growing number of supernatural and genre projects that Plan B has recently set up at New Regency, where the producer landed after they worked together on 12 Years A Slave. Plan B’s Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, who produced World War Z, add Wytches to Regency projects that include an adaptation of the Charles Burns’s graphic novel Black Hole that has Garth Davis attached to direct, as well as the thriller 3 Videotapes, which Ian McCulloch is writing.

As for the Wytches team, Snyder and Jock recently won the Stan Lee Award for Best Series for their work on Batman: The Black Mirror. Snyder has previously written American Vampire with Stephen King, Swamp Thing, Batman, and Voodoo Heart, his short story collection that was published by Dial Press in 2006. Jock has produced key art, concept design and promotional imagery for many franchise projects including Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, Man Of Steel, Children Of Men, and Hanna. He most recently worked closely with Alex Garland as lead concept designer on 2012’s big-screen adaptation of Dredd, also recently completing work on Garland’s new film Ex Machina.

Both Snyder and Jock are repped by Angela Cheng Caplan of Cheng Caplan Company and lawyered by Lillian Laserson of Laserson Law. Plan B is CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.
