Sure, the summer of 2016 will feature endless amounts of superhero action and apocalyptic events, but sometimes we just want to see some good old fashioned movie magic. With that in mind, few things go together quite like comedy and a major heist. The first Now You See Me thrilled and entertained audiences around the world in 2013, and the next chapter in the story of the Four Horsemen seems poised to keep that excitement going. A new trailer for Now You See Me 2 has just hit the web, check it out below to see for yourself.

Now that’s a trailer we can get excited about! Taking place one year after the first film, Now You See Me 2 will show the film’s Four Horsemen – Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Lizzy Caplan (subbing in for Isla Fisher) – finally coalesced into a tight-knit unit. They’ve become worldwide celebrities, and gained the adoration of millions. However, during a show, an unseen force takes over their performance and compels them to commit the biggest heist of their careers. This job will once again put them on the run, and require all of their magical abilities as they come face to face with old and new enemies.

Although it’s a fairly basic course of action, we have to applaud Now You See Me 2 for sticking to what the first film did so well. While the stakes and scale of the sequel have most certainly been ramped up, the upcoming film will play to the strengths of the group dynamic – delivering humor and heist-based thrills in equal measure. Sure, the action and the magic will factor heavily into the film, but personally I’m more excited to continue watching the entire ensemble – all of whom possess strong comedic pedigrees – bounce off of each other during the film’s quieter moments. We’re also immensely excited about the inclusion of Lizzy Caplan and Harry Potter himself Daniel Radcliffe to bolster the already A-list cast.

There’s also an enormous sense of continuity with the coming sequel. Events that occurred during the first Now You See Me very much inform the inciting incident for the coming sequel, emphasizing that the headlining quartet will face consequences for their actions. This notion is further emphasized by the fact that just about every major player from the original film – from Morgan Freeman to Michael Caine – will make an appearance and reprise their original roles, with the notable exception of Isla Fisher. Considering the fact that a Now You See Me 3 is currently in development, we will likely see this trend continue even past the upcoming caper.

As always, we will bring you all of the latest and greatest Now You See Me 2 updates as they become available to us. The highly anticipated sequel will hit theaters later this summer on June 10. Stay tuned for more details!
