SANDRA Bullock has revealed that she would have fallen pregnant at the age of 17 if it wasn’t for her strict mum.

The actress welcomed her first child at the age of 46, but has admitted that she’d have been a teen mum if she’d had her way.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the now-54-year-old said that she always wanted to be a mother – and it was her own mum who prevented this from happening.

She explained: “I would have been pregnant or knocked up at 17.

“I wanted to be a mum at a very young age. So I kind of felt the drive and the desire to.

“My mother knew that and she kept me under lock and key.”

Instead, Sandra carved a hugely successful career for herself, winning an Oscar in 2010 for her performance in The Blind Side, and being nominated four years later for her role in Gravity.

In April 2010, the star announced that she had adopted a little boy, Louis, who had been living with her and ex-husband Jesse James since his birth in January.

Sandra and Jesse divorced partway through the adoption process amid claims that he had been unfaithful with multiple women, however, Sandra continued with the adoption as a single parent.

In December 2015, Sandra revealed that she had adopted a second child, daughter Laila who is now six years old.

Despite being a working, single mother, the actress is adamant that she spends as much time as possible with her two children – with Louis and Laila even joining her on the set of her new film, Bird Box.

Sandra plays the mother of two young children in the Netflix original movie, with the star revealing that her children bonded well with the young actors that played her onscreen kids.

She said: “Legos was a big thing, also tag and catch.

“I mean, when you get little people, there are basically three things that they like to do, and all three of those were done on set.”
