There may be a lot to love about about Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, but star Christian Bale isn't fully satisfied with his performance as the Caped Crusader.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, Bale admitted he didn't feel like his turn as Batman was up to snuff.

"I didn’t quite manage what I hoped I would throughout the trilogy," Bale said. "Chris did, but my own sense of self is like, 'I didn’t quite nail it.'"

Part of his disappointment stems from Heath Ledger's critically acclaimed portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight, for which he won a posthumous Oscar for best supporting actor.

"Heath turned up, and just kind of completely ruined all my plans,” Bale said. "Because I went, 'He’s so much more interesting than me and what I’m doing.'"

Of course, Bale's comments come before Ben Affleck takes over the role of Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is expected to rake in $140 million during its opening weekend of March 25.
