The 'Top Five' writer and director will helm the Will Packer-produced comedy.

Chris Rock is returning to the director's chair to helm the Universal comedy Coparenting, to star Kevin Hart.

Rock, the veteran comedian, former Oscar host and actor, will direct the comedy script penned by Yamara Taylor about a dad who stays at home to raise the kids while his wife, a top CEO, is the family breadwinner. His world is turned upside down when his star wife initiates a bitter divorce and custody battle.

Rock made his directorial debut with the 2014 comedy Top Five, which also starred Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union. Coparenting is based on an original idea by Rock and Hart.

Will Packer will produce the film through his Will Packer Productions shingle, with Hart, John Cheng and Rock sharing the producer credits. Rock is set to star in the fourth season of Noah Hawley's FX anthology Fargo.

Hart and his production banner HartBeat Productions recently inked a first-look deal with Nickelodeon. Hart and Rock also have first-look deals with Universal Studios to produce feature films.
