Freeform Network -- formerly known as ABC Family -- has greenlit Marvel's Cloak and Dagger for a straight-to-series order.

Based on Marvel's Tyrone "Ty" Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger), Cloak and Dagger can be described as a "superhero love story." The live-action show will follow the teenage runaways as their powers are discovered and as their relationship grows.

Marvel's Cloak and Dagger was previously in development when the network was still called ABC Family. According to Variety, a writer has not been named for the series yet, but the search is "currently underway." Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios are signed on as co-producers.

Freeform's target audience is the 14 to 34 demographic, making Cloak and Dagger—which is aimed at young adults—a good fit for the network. Cloak and Dagger will be the first Marvel series for Freeform, though its sister network, ABC, is home to Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and Marvel's Most Wanted. ABC has another unannounced Marvel TV project in the works as well.
