Supergirl will be crossing over with The Flash and Arrow this fall — just not in the way you think.

Though all three shows hail from executive producer Greg Berlanti — who previously teased to EW that the superheroes live in the same universe — CBS has other plans before they move forward with a cross-network crossover event.

“We have not had conversations about the crossovers, but we are doing crossover promotions, so we will see that with the promotion crossovers, but not in terms of the characters,” CBS Chairman Nina Tassler revealed at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour.

As for the delay when it comes to crossing story lines, the Supergirl producers may be hesitant for their heroine to crossover with Arrow and The Flash so soon because they first want to establish the character. Also, The Flash and Arrow’s big crossover event this season will be setting up midseason spin-off DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, so it might be hard to shoehorn such an important character into an already stuffed event.

Supergirl premieres Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
