Filming is now underway on Captain Marvel, which has been confirmed by a new set video. Marvel Studios is nearing the end of their Phase 3 release slate with the highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War hitting theaters next month, which marks the beginning of the end of the MCU’s first saga. But it’s not over yet.

After Black Panther, Avengers 3 and Ant-Man and The Wasp are the only other MCU movies on the way in 2018. And since 2019’s Avengers 4 is already in the can, the studio has been gearing up for production on Captain Marvel to truly begin. As fans may recall, filming briefly took place earlier in the year so Marvel could retain its tax breaks for filming in California. Helmed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, star Brie Larson will play Carol Danvers as the MCU’s first leading lady. She’s accompanied by Ben Mendelsohn (who continues to be coy about his role), Samuel L. Jackson, and Jude Law, as well as Gemma Chan and the late addition of Lashana Lynch, who replaced DeWanda Wise after the actress had to drop the role due to a scheduling conflict.

A set video captured by Nicki Robbins confirms previous reports of Captain Marvel‘s actual start date. The behind-the-scenes look at the first day of filming once again puts Larson in the green Captain Marvel suit. Either her stunt double or a stand-in is also scene in the video. Unfortunately, the video only shows them preparing to film a scene, and doesn’t actually give us any more clues as to what is happening.

With filming officially underway in California, this could be the first of many set videos to surface. Considering Marvel couldn’t even film their initial few days earlier in the year without getting caught by the paparazzi, that could be a recurring trend throughout production. Something that could stand in the way of that happening is the film’s setting, said to largely take place in outer space. This is due to Carol fighting in the Kree-Skrull war, which is also the believed rational behind her dawning a green suit again – and not the red, blue, and yellow one she’s best known for that was previously shown in Captain Marvel concept art.

Marvel’s track record when it comes to making official announcements about the start of production is uneven, however. When they do make such an announcement, it typically comes with a first look official image, a cast list, and sometimes even a synopsis. They don’t need to do one for Captain Marvel, but it sure would be nice. Everyone’s seen the set photos of the green suit and the concept art of the traditional look, so getting an actual official look at Larson as Carol Danvers is overdue. The film also currently has a very small cast list and an official cast list could reveal new additions, or confirm the return of some MCU favorites. Marvel could wait a few days to do this, but any longer than that and the likelihood of these details coming won’t look good. And if they don’t, we’ll just have to rely on set leaks to continue to feed the Captain Marvel interest.
