Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment has set up a movie version of the recently published science-fiction novel “Illuminae” at Warner Bros.
The novel, written by Australian scribes Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff as the first in a trilogy (“The Illuminae Files”), centers on a hacker and her ex-boyfriend in the year 2575 with two rival megacorporations warring over a planet at the edge of the universe. With a plague breaking out, the duo is forced to evacuate the planet with a hostile warship in pursuit.

The story is told through a dossier of hacked documents including emails, maps, files, IMs, medical reports and interviews.
Pitt will produce along with Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Sarah Esberg will executive produce and execute for Plan B.
Plan B produced “World War Z,” “12 Years a Slave,” “The Big Short” and “The Lost City of Z.”
Kaufman co-authored “Starbound Trilogy” and Kristoff wrote the “Lotus War” series and “The Nevernight Chronicle.” Jesse Ehrman and Julia Spiro are overseeing the project for the studio.

The Kohner Agency repped the book on behalf of Adams Literary for Kaufman and Sanford J. Greenburger Associates for Kristoff.
