Amazon’s longest-running original will remain on the platform for the next few years as the streaming arm of the online retail behemoth has given an early six-season order for Bosch.

The hourlong drama, based on the popular books by Michael Connelly and starring Titus Welliver as the titular detective, is currently in production on its fifth season — one Amazon plans to launch in 2019.

Bosch is produced by Fabrik Entertainment, a Red Arrow Studios company. The series was developed for television by Eric Overmyer and is co-showrun by Overmyer and Daniel Pyne.

Bosch is a customer and critical favorite and Amazon Prime members are fans of this long-running series that delivers strong storytelling, complex characters, and exceptional performances,” Amazon Studios co-head of television Albert Cheng said Wednesday in a statement. “We are happy to continue to work with Fabrik, Michael Connelly, and the rest of the team on this artful procedural drama.”

Viewership stats for Amazon series aren’t disclosed, but the outlet was quick to brag in its renewal announcement that Bosch boasts an average 4.8 rating (out of five stars) from customers for its latest season.
