It's time to look back at 'Star Wars' history — and 'Spaceballs' gets a shout-out, too.

It isn't much, but nerds will gladly take it.
On Friday, Rian Johnson shared a fun little fact about The Last Jedi via Twitter.
The director of the highly anticipated franchise installment said his picture will contain the fewest wipe transitions of any Star Wars film to date, with "a measly 12."
Johnson shared the fun tidbit after holding an impromptu poll, asking his Twitter followers which of the franchise films had the most wipes.
It turns out, Phantom Menace is the winner with 55, Johnson said. That is not at all surprising. Fans felt every single one while waiting for the fight toward the end.
A New Hope had 31 wipes, Empire Strikes Back had 42 and Force Awakens had 14, the director said. Return of the Jedi was left out of Johnson's poll.
Those numbers all are well and good, but it is also important to note that the Star Wars spoof Spaceballs had a classic wipe/dissolve scene, too (see below).
And, of course, because it is the internet, a fan put together a video of all the wipes from A New Hope, which had to be shared since it's the film that started it all.
Last Jedi hits theaters Dec. 15.
