20th Century Studios debuts the official Bob's Burgers Movie trailer, offering the first look at the long-awaited film extension of the hit show. Co-written, co-directed and co-produced by Loren Bouchard in his feature debut, the animated musical comedy serves as the first big-screen adventure for the Belcher family since Bob's Burgers first hit Fox over a decade ago. The Bob's Burgers Movie will see the titular patriarch and his family's summer ruined when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole outside their restaurant, blocking the entrance indefinitely and putting the business in danger while kids Tina, Louise and Gene try to solve a mystery that could save Bob's Burgers.

H. Jon Benjamin returns to lead the cast of The Bob's Burgers Movie alongside series costars Kristen Schaal, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis and David Wain. Development on the film adaptation has been in the works since late 2017 when 20th Century Fox first announced the project to be in the works and Bouchard turning in an approved script the following year, though production wouldn't get underway until late 2020 when the cast and crew began working remotely amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Following multiple release delays due to the extended production cycle, The Bob's Burgers Movie has finally landed a May 2022 theatrical release date.

As the new year kicks off, 20th Century Studios has finally debuted the first Bob's Burgers Movie trailer. The video reveals the movie expansion of the acclaimed animated series and the first look at the musical-mystery adventure the Belchers find themselves in. Check out the official trailer below:

After waiting for nearly five years, the official Bob's Burgers Movie trailer is sure to come as an exciting development for longtime fans of the Fox series. The video nicely highlights the more detailed work going into the animation for the film, all of which is being dedicated to genre vets Tuck Tucker and Dale Baer, who contributed their final animation skills prior to their deaths in late 2020 and early 2021, respectively. Additionally, the trailer is full of Easter eggs and nods to a variety of frequent running gags and characters from the series, namely Louise's Kuchi Kopi that was the center of her fever dream episode "Flu-ouise" and Linda repurposing Gene's burger suit in the most in-character way possible.

It's interesting to note the official Bob's Burgers Movie trailer also confirms the film has received a PG-13 rating. This falls in line with fellow Fox animated show-turned-movie The Simpsons Movie, though comes as the first since the hit film from 20th Century Animation to receive the rating, which will work well to translate the series' balance of raunchier and lighthearted humor to the big screen. Only time will tell when The Bob's Burgers Movie hits theaters on May 27.
