Bill & Ted Face the Music has officially moved back to its previous August release date. After nearly 30 years, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are back to reprise their beloved roles of William "Bill" S. Preston, Esq. and Theodore "Ted" Logan, respectively. The previous installment of the cult favorite franchise, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, came out in 1991, and fans are excited to see what the two slacker best friends are up to. Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the two traveling to the future in search of the song they're destined to write in order to save the world. This time around, they'll be joined by their daughters Billie (Brigette Lundy Paine) and Thea (Samara Weaving).

Like just about every other movie this year, Bill & Ted Face the Music has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It was originally scheduled for release on August 21, but the shifting of other summer blockbusters caused Bill & Ted Face the Music to be shuffled to various other August dates. Finally, the movie seemed to settle on September 1, along with the news that it will be released both in theaters and on VOD. However, that has once again changed.

Winter hopped on social media on Thursday morning to reveal Bill & Ted Face the Music has been bumped up a full week to August 28. It will still be released in theaters and on-demand at the same time. August 28 is the date Bill & Ted Face the Music last held before the September move, making this an interesting adjustment. In addition to sharing the release date news, Winter also included a behind the scenes video that delves into Billie and Thea's roles. Check it out in the space below.

At this point in the year, release date changes are nothing new. No Time to Die started the trend when it moved from April to November, and countless other movies have been forced to jump from release date to release date. While movie theaters are hoping to be reopened by the end of the month, there's still a great deal of uncertainty over whether they actually can. However, because Bill & Ted Face the Music is also being released on VOD, there's less pressure on its theatrical performance. Therefore, an August release should work just fine.

It'll go up against Disney and Fox's The New Mutants, which could still very well end up delayed (again). Fans have waited a long time to see the next rocking adventure of Bill and Ted, so the news that they'll get it a week earlier than expected it surely a welcome one. It's exciting to know audiences will have Bill & Ted Face the Music available to watch by the end of this month, provided plans don't change once again. Fans could probably use some excellence right about now.
