In an upcoming animated series called Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, Lucasfilm is telling new "bite-sized" stories featuring the women of Star Wars. The show utilizes a different animated style than we've seen for Star Wars, but still strives for authenticity, especially in the cast. Daisy Ridley reprises her role as Rey, Felicity Jones is Jyn Erso, Lupita Nyong'o is Maz Kanata, Ashley Eckstein is Ahsoka Tano, Matt Lanter is Anakin Skywalker, Tiya Sircar is Sabine Wren, and Vanessa Marshall is Hera Syndulla.

Each episode is two to three-minutes in length and will air in July on Disney's YouTube page. After they are released, a two-part special with eight additional episodes will air on Disney Channel in the fall.

Hasbro is supporting the show with a new line of 11-inch action figures, featuring Rey, Jyn, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Sabine, and Leia, as well as role-playing items like Rey's extendable staff and lightsabers. Disney is also releasing a line of books for young readers based on Forces of Destiny.
