‘Bates Motel’ Star, Co-Showrunner Sell Comedy Project to NBC

The “Bates Motel” cast and crew seems to keep it in the family off-screen as well, as the A&E drama’s co-showrunner Kerry Ehrin and star Freddie Highmore have sold a comedy script to NBC.

The still-untitled half-hour single camera romantic comedy is set in the world of venture capitalism and tells the story of the intimate relationship between an overly emotional, but talented, female executive and her ambitious and eccentric young British assistant.

Ehrin and Highmore reportedly came up with the idea while attending the Critics Choice Awards.

This marks the first script where Highmore, who just graduated from Cambridge University, will be credited as a writer. It has not been determined if he will appear in the show.

Ehrin is repped by Rothman Brecher Agency and Highmore is repped by ARG.
