The hotly anticipated trailer for Avengers: Infinity War has confirmed where the sixth and final Infinity Stone is: Wakanda. Yup, that’s right – the isolated and super technological African nation ruled by T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), the Black Panther, indeed houses the Soul Stone. As such, the country is set to be one of the crucial battlegrounds in the Infinity War against Thanos (Josh Brolin).

The other five Infinity Stones have been gradually revealed throughout Phases 1-3, with the new trailer putting focus on Thanos hunting each of these down. However, the location of the final Soul Stone had been one of the biggest mysteries of the MCU. Fans have speculated where it could be for years, with the powerful object hidden somewhere Asgard being one of the most popular guesses: some fans believed the Stone was hidden in the eye socket of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) himself; Hela (Cate Blanchett) using the Soul Stone to destroy Asgard was another theory proven incorrect by Thor: Ragnarok.

In light of it being the only film left before Infinity War, the Soul Stone was already expected to be revealed in Black Panther as the source of Wakanda’s incredible technological society (the most advanced on Earth). The nation is already rich in resources – it’s the world’s only source of vibranium, the strongest metal on Earth that Captain America’s shield and Black Panther’s armor is created from – but it was theorized it held more, and the Infinity War trailer finally puts a stamp on that.

As we see in the teaser, several Avengers – including Captain America, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, the Falcon, War Machine, and the Hulk – are joined by the Wakandan army led by Okoye and the Black Panther as they charge at the unseen forces of Thanos. The fact the final stand (the sequence clearly takes place after other battles in New York and Edinburgh, with the disparate Avengers reunited) appears to be taking place in the country all-but confirms Thanos is coming for his prize.

In addition to the fight in Wakanda, in the trailer we also see several other victims of Thanos’ wrath. The Mad Titan appears in New York City, where Doctor Strange, Wong, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark (as well as Peter Parker) are united, presumably around the Time Stone. The Vision is not unsurprisingly a target of Thanos as well; we see the Mind Stone literally plucked from his forehead. Whether that makes the Vision a fatal casualty of the Infinity War remains to be seen.

With the power of the Black Order behind him, it looks like even the Avengers assembling en masse and joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be enough to prevent Thanos from achieving his goal and uniting all six Stones into the Infinity Gauntlet.
