Thanos is stronger than the Hulk, Avengers: Infinity War directors the Russos share. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will need all the help they can get when they come face-to-face with the Mad Titan and his minions, the Black Order. But it appears that one of the original six members may not be as big of a help as people initially presumed, given that the Mad Titan could overpower the Hulk.


Aside from the Asgardians, it’s the Hulk who has first-hand experience with Thanos before his Avengers cohorts become aware of who the Mad Titan is, and surprisingly the green raging monster is impressed by the villain. Judging from the trailers, it seems like he’s going to be a pivotal part in learning what exactly went down in the refugee ship that caused him to crash land to the Sanctum Sanctorum, while Thor is left floating in space before the Guardians of the Galaxy stumble upon him. But other than being a possible source of information, his physical power is not enough for him to go one-on-one with the galactic villain.


Speaking with HeyUGuys during the London press event for Infinity War, the Russos hyped up Thanos as the most dangerous villain that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has faced thus far. During the conversation, Joe even shared that he is even more physically imposing than the Hulk. That’s an interesting notion considering that the previews have revealed Captain America doing decently against the Mad Titan, and from what’s been previously established, the Green Goliath is supposedly the “strongest Avenger.”

“I mean it’s like death comes to call for the Avengers. This is a nearly unbeatable force who is determined to destroy half the life in the universe to bring it to balance. He sees it as an overgrown garden that he needs to prune. As you mentioned, he is fairly invincible. He’s a sort of genetic mutation who’s the Genghis Khan of the universe. He’s unbeatable on the battlefield, stronger than the Hulk, skin is invincible. So it’s going to cost the Avengers something to defeat him.”


What’s curious to know is what Banner thinks of Thanos considering that there is discord between him and his alter-ego. From what’s known from Thor: Ragnarok, the soft-spoken scientist is still reeling from Hulk taking him over for the last two years, leaving him unaware of what’s happened since the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Perhaps, Hulk’s penchant for the Mad Titan is also the reason why Banner is skeptical about another “angry” transformation, considering that the green raging monster could be more detrimental to the team rather than be of help.


Regardless, after an initial attempt to be involved in the massive battle by staying as Banner (thanks to Stark’s Hulkbuster), previews revealed that the Hulk will eventually make his appearance during the great Wakandan war which is the final act of Avengers: Infinity War. At that point, he appears to be on the side of his old pals considering that at that he’s just battling Outriders, but it’s interesting to see what his reaction will be once he gets face-to-face again with Thanos.

Hate to break it to the Russos...but, they're wrong. AS a fan boy and long time comic aficionado, I will say they are of course free to make any changes they wish for the films. That being said, the comics version the Hulk has a very gray area as to the upper limits of his strength. This means, depending on just how angry he gets would dictate the strength he displays at any given time. Myself? Hulk can take Thanos...
