The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting so large that simply being part of it doesn't mean you'll ever cross paths with everybody else in it. Michael Douglas is hoping that he gets to cross over into some of the other movies if only to share a moment with another great actor. The actor who plays Hank Pym hopes he gets to join Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye at some point down the line.

One of the joys of being in the Marvel family is they find ways of transitioning your character into other Marvel films, so hopefully there will be a moment in the future where Jeremy and I have the chance to be in the same Marvel film together. The Marvel family is pretty extraordinary. They have made 18 films and every one of them has been successful, which is an extraordinary accomplishment. I don't think any other studio has had the same degree of success.

Michael Douglas' comments came as the two actors were playing together in a celebrity golf tournament in China over the weekend. Jeremy Renner also said he would love to work with Douglas, though there was no indication that such a collaboration might be in the cards for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which could be an indication that there isn't one, but could also be an indication that they simply don't know, or that they're both very good at their jobs and simply aren't talking.

Thus far the only crossing over that anybody from the original Ant-Man has had a chance to do has been Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. Even the one scene from Ant-Man itself that included a character crossing over was a scene that none of the other lead characters were in.

Of course, at one point there actually was an opportunity for the two to cross paths. The writers of Captain America: Civil War have said that an early draft of the script actually included Hank Pym as part of the big airport battle between the two factions. The script was being written before anybody had actually seen Ant-Man so at the time nobody knew how big Michael Douglas' part actually was. Eventually, his part was removed to make way for others.

There's a better than average chance that we'll be seeing more character crossovers in the near future. Even if we don't see Hank Pym in Avengers: Infinity War, the fact that Ant-Man and the Wasp will take place in between the two big Avengers films certainly gives us the impression that the film will have it's connections to them, which would seem to increase the likelihood that we'll see more characters jumping back and forth. Maybe the Hank Pym/Hawkeye moment is right around the corner.
