Since first joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Peggy Carter has been breaking out of her role as a love interest for Steve Rogers and gaining a larger presence in the franchise that will soon include her own TV series, Agent Carter.

Hayley Atwell has already reprised the role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and since Peggy is such an integral part of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s history it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that more cameo appearances are in store (as part of Phase 3 of Marvel Studios’ Shared Movie/TV show Universe).

For example, earlier this year it was rumored that the first act of Ant-Man would be set in the past and would feature Atwell alongside Dominic Cooper’s Howard Stark as Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) crosses paths with S.H.I.E.L.D. while discovering the technology that allows him to change his size. Since Douglas doesn’t look old enough to have been an adult in the 1940s, this would potentially mean a look at what the covert agency was like in the ’60s or ’70s.

There’s good news for those hoping to see Atwell in bell-bottoms, as Atlanta-based casting company New Life Casting has released a casting call seeking a stand-in for the actor. The casting call is specifically for Ant-Man as opposed to Agent Carter (which is currently being filmed in Los Angeles), and was promoted by Project Casting. The advert states that the stand-in would only be needed for one day this month, but it’s possible that Atwell’s own appearance will be somewhat more substantial.

Agent Carter and commandos Ant Man: Peggy Carter Appearance Confirmed by Casting Call?

Although we’re not sure of the exact details, Ant-Man‘s tumultuous development has made it clear that the long-gestating superhero movie has changed since its original inception, which predates the first Iron Man movie. Director Edgar Wright was attached to Ant-Man for years, only to part ways with Marvel due to creative differences that were said to largely be due to forced script rewrites. Peyton Reed has since taken over Wright’s job and the script has been redrafted by Adam McKay.

This latest news seems to confirm that Atwell will appear in both of Marvel’s big 2015 releases, since it was revealed earlier this year that Joss Whedon had written a part for her in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s possible, of course, that one or both of these appearances could end up on the cutting room floor, but featuring Peggy Carter in the movies would work nicely as cross-promotion for the TV series.

Alongside the casting call is another for a 6’2″ 225lbs male body double, but it’s unclear whether this is for anyone of note. Corey Stoll, perhaps?

Ant-Man hits theaters July 17, 2015.
