As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues through Phase 3, all eyes are on the biggest movie event we've seen in years, Avengers: Infinity War. The third and fourth Avengers films will assemble the MCU's massive cast of heroes in order to battle against Josh Brolin's villainous Thanos and his vast resources. The Russo Brothers have the heavy task of somehow weaving all the characters together, and now it appears that another figure from the Thor franchise will be joining the fray as well: Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

Tessa Thompson is joining the MCU in the upcoming threequel Thor: Ragnarok, playing new love interest and badass warrior Valkyrie. Now it appears that she's likely making the transition over to Avengers: Infinity War, as she's been recently spotted in Edinburgh. Infinity War, including Chris Hemsworth's Thor, is currently filming in Scotland, so it would stand to reason that Thompson has joined the already massive cast of characters.

This news come to us from one eagle eyed fan, who spotted Tessa Thompson and posed for a picture outside her hotel in Edinburgh. Check it out.

Of course, this isn't a complete confirmation of Valkyrie's inclusion in Infinity War. But it's also hard to believe that Tessa Thompson would shlep all the way to Scotland for a mere set visit and high five with her Ragnarok costars. If they were filming in Atlanta that would make sense, but not so much across the pond.

It should actually come to no surprise that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie is extending into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Natalie Portmans' Jane now written out of the universe, Valkyrie will be the female character that will likely be the most significant in future Thor films. And unlike the mostly helpless Jane, Valkyrie can more closely relate to the God of Thunder, while also kicking ass and taking names. Don't expect her to need rescuing anytime soon.

But with such a vast amount of characters included in Infinity War, it's unclear exactly how large Tessa Thompson's role in the film will be. While she could be at Thor's side when he returns to his fellow Avengers, she could also be located in some other planet or plane. With Thanos' powers so overwhelming, we could see certain supporting characters joining the fray through cameos, rather than group scenes with some of the MCU's bigger characters. We'll just have to wait and see.

You can meet Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017. Be sure to check out our full 2017 release list and plan your next trip to the movies.
