IFC Films has picked up the U.S. rights to Good Kill, Andrew Niccol’s drama centering on American drone usage.

Ethan Hawke and January Jones star in the movie, which had its world premiere at the 2014 Venice Film Festival and its North American premiere at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival.

Nicolas Chartier and Zev Foreman of Voltage Pictures produced the movie, as did Mark Amin of Sobini Films.

According to IFC, Kill tells of a former pilot (Hawke) who spends “his days fighting the War on Terror by remote control and the remaining time at his suburban home, where he feuds with his wife (January Jones), and numbs his boredom, rage, and guilt with alcohol. When Egan and his crew are told to start taking orders directly from the CIA — which selects its targets based not on personal profiles but patterns of activity — the notion of a 'good' kill becomes even more maddeningly abstract, and Egan's ability to comply with his superiors' directives reaches its breaking point.”

Niccol wrote and directed the movie, which co-stars Zoe Kravitz, Bruce Greenwood, and Jake Abel.
