American Gods will make its first official appearance at this year's New York Comic Con, with Neil Gaiman on board to answer questions about what fans can expect from season 2. American Gods is the TV series adaptation of the novel of the same name by Gaiman.

The story follows an ex-convict named Shadow, who struggles with the death of his wife. Shadow meets a mysterious man only known as Mr. Wednesday and soon finds himself on a journey where he learns that Mr. Wednesday is more than he appears and that there is an entire fantastical world of gods, both old and new. There's just one problem: the old gods are going to battle with the new gods, and somehow, Shadow is to play an essential role in that war.

American Gods will have a panel at this year's NYCC, which will feature Gaiman and members of the cast talking about what fans can expect from the TV show's second season. The panel will happen on Friday October 5 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center. Season 1 ended with a massive confrontation at Easter's party over Mr. Wednesday's plans for war. In season 2, Mr. Wednesday will continue to gather old gods for his cause, meaning that his journey with Shadow is far from over.

Season 2 brings a new showrunner to the series. The' previous showrunners of American Gods, Michael Green and Bryan Fuller, announced their exit in 2017 because they were reportedly unhappy with the progress of the show's second season, especially with the other projects they had lined up. Jesse Alexander stepped in as showrunner for season 2. Alexander will work with Gaiman, who will also oversee the production.

The series also lost one of its recurring actresses. Gillian Anderson chose to step down from her role as the goddess Media after the departure of Green and Fuller, mostly due to a deal she had with Fuller. The show must go on, though, so Starz cast Kahyun Kim to play a similar goddess role called New Media. Season 2 will also bring at least two other new characters: Dean Winters (John Wick) will portray Mr. Town, while Devery Jacobs (The Order) will take on the role of Sam Black Crow.

These setbacks are troublesome for fans, but they should rest easy as long as Gaiman continues to stay involved. American Gods is his baby, and he will make sure that its TV series gets treated well. The good news is that season 2 recently began filming, with a potential air date set for sometime in 2019.
