The debut novel from Weike Wang received a place on NPR's Best Books of 2017.

Amazon is developing Chemistry: A Novel, the debut from author Weike Wang, as a feature.

The story, which combines humor, anxiety and science, centers on a Boston-based grad student who is having a difficult time navigating the demands of her Chinese parents, the needs of her marriage-minded boyfriend and her Ph.D. The novel received a place on NPR's Best Books of 2017 list.

Playwright Ming Peiffer, who worked on Carlton Cuse's Hulu show Locke & Key, is set to adapt.

Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster are set to produce via their Blue Harp banner, which has a first-look deal at Amazon for TV. They are repped by UTA, Kaplan Perrone and Lichter Grossman.

Wang is repped by UTA on behalf of The Joy Harris Literary Agency, while Peiffer is repped by CAA, Kaplan Perrone and Gang Tyre.

This week, it was also announced that Amazon is developing Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's The Nest as a feature, with The Big Sick co-writer Emily V. Gordon on board to adapt.
