ALAN Partridge is preparing for his TV comeback in a new trailer - but the presenting pro is suffering from dry mouth.

The Norwich native can be seen in the first look trailer for new prime time show, This Time with Alan Partridge.

The comedy legend returns to the BBC with a new series co-hosting an early evening magazine show - akin to BBC's The One Show.

The teaser trailer shows the chat show veteran struggling to maintain any saliva as he nervously waits to broadcast live alongside his fellow presenter.

The TV duo can be seen sharing some awkward conversation just before the programme goes live on air.

Actress Susannah Fielding, who has starred in Wallander, Dr Who and Black Mirror, plays his co-presenter Jennie Gresham.

And there's sure to be some friction between the two.

Tim Key is back as Partridge's work colleague Simon ‘formerly Sidekick Simon’ Denton.

And not forgetting comedy heavyweight Felicity Montagu who will return as Alan Partridge’s long-suffering assistant Lyn Benfield.

The actress has played the role intermittently since 1997 as well as roles including Sally4Ever and The End of the F***ing World.

The new six-part comedy is due to air on BBC1 at the beginning of the year.

The comedy gold is said to feature “a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth”.
