Once Upon a Time star Jennifer Morrison says she would love to reprise her role as Winona Kirk in Star Trek 4. Morrison played the brief but important role of James T. Kirk’s mother in J. J. Abram’s Star Trek, the film that kicked off the franchise reboot, called the Kelvin Timeline. After it was announced that Chris Hemsworth would be returning as Winona’s husband, George Kirk, in Star Trek 4, Morrison added her voice to the excitement and speculation surrounding the future of the franchise.

Talk about the two upcoming Star Trek films has heated up in recent months. Star Trek 4 will have the franchise’s first female director now that S. J. Clarkson has signed on to direct. After it was announced in 2017 that Quentin Tarantino would helm his own Star Trek movie, fans were left wondering how or even if his film would tie into the series. But Zachary Quinto, who plays the new iteration of Spock, has indicated that the cast of the Kelvin Timeline will appear in both films. Quinto, who is often a source of Star Trek news, has stated that everyone can expect more updates soon.

Morrison, both fan and as well as part of the franchise, has made no secret about her thoughts of the upcoming films. While at Montreal Comic Con, one fan asked her if she wanted to join Hemsworth in Star Trek 4. According to TrekMovie, the actress was all for it:

“I would love that! I don’t have any idea what they are doing. I have not heard from anyone. So, I don’t know where they are in the process. I don’t even know if they have a script. I have no idea where they are at with all of it. But, I loved being a part of that franchise. I loved playing Winona Kirk. I feel super honored to have played Winona Kirk. And any way to be possibly involved, I would of course love to be.”

This is not the first time Morrison has discussed Hemsworth’s part in the franchise. Hemsworth’s George Kirk sacrificed himself at the beginning of Star Trek to save his family and crew from an attacking Romulan ship, making his return that more surprising. Back in May, Morrison hinted that George may have survived the destruction of the USS Kelvin which fans at believed was a potential spoiler (time travel is another possibility). Morrison later had to clarify that she doesn’t know anything about Star Trek 4. As of this post, she has not been in any talks for the film. But that hasn’t put a damper on her enthusiasm.

There is no word yet if there are any plans to reunite the entire Kirk family. With George returning, it wouldn’t be a stretch to bring Winona back as well. Regardless if she returns or not, Morrison remains excited about the future of the franchise. For now, she, like every other fan, will have to hope that Quinto’s updates tease comes to fruition sooner rather than later.
