A far as I know, anonym.to is not a proxy, but a link anonymizer. It's also used by many trackers, such as bitgamer, so it's completely safe to click that link.

I have had 2 GFT accounts ban because of this so I know what I'm talking about.
In my eyes anything that hides your real IP address is a proxy= http://anonym.to/?
If you sign into GFT this way your account will be ban the next day, trust me.

Just keep in mind, that by clicking on the invitation link they sent you from TI, GFT was opening with the same browser
So the reason was maybe the CSS hack and not the anonym.to !!!

I bet you all the money in my PayPal anonym.to doesn't hide your IP. Someone please confirm this

Both my accounts were ban, I copied and paste the link to a different browser.
I have to browsers, 1 for forums and 1 for trackers.
This was not the reason as I know a lot about the CSS hack, when I removed "http://anonym.to/? From the link I never had any problems creating an account again.
You see http://anonym.to/? Hides your real IP which =ban on GFT
