why would you say I didn't register an email address to my account? I'm almost positive I did. The problem is, there is nowhere to input that email address for password recovery. Try it yourself. Log out. And sign back in and input the wrong password. There is nowhere you can go for password recovery. If there is, please send me the link.

If you want to join us on IRC, you will need an IRC client. The most popular clients are X-Chat (multi platform) and mIRC (Windows only). Once you have a client installed, simply click the following link: irc://irc.shazbat.tv:6667 or irc://irc.shazbat.tv:+6697 (SSL), alternatively, from within your preferred client, type "/server irc.shazbat.tv" or "/server irc.shazbat.tv:+6697" (SSL).

To be able to join the #shazbat channel, you need to send the command /msg shazbot !passkey "yourpasskey" (without quotes).
-OR- use the !passpre command instead of !passkey to join both #shazbat and #shazbat.pre (see below.)

Your passkey is the same as for RSS and announcing. It can be found here. This lets you use whatever nick you want while still allowing us to ensure that you're a legitimate user from the site. It is still a good idea to use a registered nick and script the message for when you get confirmation that you have identified with nickserv.

If you're using mIRC, you can add this line in Aliases (replace the numbers with your personal passkey):
/join { if ($istok($1-,#shazbat,32)) .msg Shazbot !passkey 01234567890abcdef | else !join $1- }
This will intercept /join commands either scripted or manual and replace the join command for #shazbat with the passkey command to the bot.

Thanks, unfortunately don't have my passkey. Not a regular IRC user so it's not saved in my irc. I can't get my passkey without logging in to shazbat and I can't log in to shazbat. Basically I'm out of luck.

I recommend to everyone with an account to write down your password and save it somewhere, as well as your IRC passkey.

Perhaps a bit late to respond, but if you have a any torrents from the tracker running in your torrent client you'll be able to see your passkey in the tracker announce url for the torrents.
