Deputies Marina Mukabenova, Nikolai Nikolaev and Alexander Yushchenko have submitted to the State Duma a bill to block pirated applications, as reported by the Moscow City News Agency.

It is about making amendments to certain articles of the federal law "On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection". In the opinion of the authors of the document, the proposed changes will allow rightholders to more effectively exercise their right to restrict the distribution of copyright and (or) related rights on the Internet without the appropriate permission.

To eliminate the legal uncertainty in the interpretation of the term "information resource", the term "software application" is introduced. It is suggested to understand programs for electronic computers with the help of which, without proper permission of the copyright holder, objects of copyright and (or) related rights are distributed on the Internet.

In case the copyright holder discovers the distribution of the object without its authorization, the author can apply to the court or to the owner of the website with an application to restrict access to such programs.

If the document is adopted, the law will clearly indicate the need to stop access to content that infringes copyrights and is distributed through mobile application stores of mobile devices.
