The Dutch anti-piracy organisation Brein has settled with a trader of stolen passwords to legal SVOD services.

The 26 years old man from the city of Zwolle agreed to paying EUR10,000 in order to avoid prosecution.

The man was selling stolen log-in details in an online shop. He collected the data from various hackers forums, and sold them after testing them.

Brein sent letters to the owners of the stolen log-in details advising them to change their passwords into more secure ones.

The organisation is also active closing down Facebook groups, where illegal downloads of music, movies and TV series, as well as e-books are exchanged. According to Brein, more than 30 of such groups were closed since the beginning of the year.
