Vishal, after being elected as the president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, had vowed he would eradicate piracy from the industry completely.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming film Thupparivalan, Vishal seems to have hit gold with his efforts against piracy in Tamil film industry. According to reports, a man named Gauri Shankar has been arrested by police officials in Chennai who is said to be associated with a piracy site – Tamil Gun. The police arrested Gauri Shankar on Tuesday evening in Chennai and Vishal visited the Triplicane police station in Chennai to inquire about the details of the arrested man.

Tamil film producers have been hit by piracy for a long time and have been incurring huge losses. Vishal, after being elected as the president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, had vowed he would eradicate piracy from the industry completely and these developments seem to be his first success in his efforts against piracy.

Vishal, who visited the Triplicane police station after the arrest of Gauri Shankar, spoke to the media personnel present the police station. “One person associated with website piracy has been taken into custody by the police. It is a significant breakthrough, and the police are investigating now,” Vishal was quoted in a report in TOI.

Few reports in the media indicate that Vishal and his team at the Producers’ Council have rigorously worked towards on this along with police officials. It is also being reported that the arrested man, Gauri Shankar, was laid into a trap by the officials and was eventually arrested y cops. Vishal currently has a film lined up titled Thupparivalan which is directed by Mysskin.
