Ukraine: Cybersecurity law was prepared on pirated versions of Microsoft Word

The document with the scandalous bill No. 6688 was prepared in a pirated version of a text editor Microsoft Word, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to znaj.ua. About this drew the attention of the Facebook user Petro NEK.

Peter writes that he decided to familiarize himself with the text of the bill and, out of habit, first looked at the file properties to view the related information.

“Well, and out of habit looked who created the document, who edited. (Ward, by default writes the data specified when installing the program). Well, it turned out that the document was typed on a pirate Ward. You can just google it SPecialiST RePack and you will see results. About the author Don Mare, I found nothing, except that it’s fish store,” – said the user.

This kind of messages regarding the use of Ukrainian in government agencies unlicensed software despite many initiatives for the protection of copyright and the fight against pirated content, is not uncommon. But in this case the situation is particularly curious – the law about censorship in the Internet, which is supposed to improve cybersecurity deputies write on a pirate Word.

“So the establishment of the MPs or their assistants broken pirated software can carry a greater threat of cyber security of the country than the sites, because there are cases when the broken version installed Trojans, keyloggers, and the like.”

It turns out that the recent bill on countering cyber threats (6688) was prepared in pirated Word 🤦

A new and rather interesting detail has been found out about the scandalous bill No. 6688, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as is known, did not even begin to consider today. In general, this document was prepared in a pirated version of the Microsoft Word text editor. The curiosity was attracted by the user of Facebook Petro Nek.

Having decided personally to familiarize himself with the text of the bill, the user, as he himself says, out of habit first looked in the properties of the file to see the related information. So in the field "Organization" in the properties of the document with the text of the bill is "SPecialiST RePack" - the hacked distribution of the well-known office suite Microsoft Office.

In fact, this kind of reports regarding the use of unlicensed software in Ukrainian government institutions, despite many initiatives to protect copyright and fight against pirated content, is not uncommon. But in this case the situation looks especially "amusing" - the law on censorship on the Internet, which supposedly should improve cybersecurity, is written on pirated Word, where some Trojan, keylogger or some other "infection" may be sitting. And it would all be funny if it was not so sad.

P.S. Tell already someone to deputies or their assistants about the existence of OpenOffice or Google Docs, just do not forget to mention the privacy settings, so that no one accidentally indexes.
