Sky Broadband customers who illegally download movies could be about to get a knock on the door from the authorities.

The internet provider was ordered by a court to provide names and addresses of certain users who pirate films.

Sky lost a court battle to The Company You Keep which wanted details of people suspected of the practice.

And now those customers (although it’s not been revealed how many that involves) could receive a claim for compensation to prevent further legal action being taken, according to Torrent Freak.

Sky said in a statement: ‘TCYK LLC successfully applied for a court order against Sky, which means we have been ordered to supply the details of some of our account holders that match the list of IP addresses they have identified.

‘We advise any of our customers who receive a letter from TCYK LLC to read it carefully and if they want any further help to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau.’
