Recent Cleanup of Non Active Accounts
When I founded TtN I started it alone and for quite some time I was the solitary member of staff. I made it quite clear that TtN would never have any form of open registrations. However, as time went by others joined me on the staff team and as a result it was decided to have open registrations after all. I can honestly tell you that this was a huge error on our part and I regret it deeply. Nevertheless what is done is done.

Recently we made the decision to cleanup accounts that in our opinion were classed as non use and this was a one time effort, and from hereon all accounts will only be disabled by the system for non use.

    What does non use entail?
It means if you fail to login within 90 days your account, will be disabled by the system automatically after said 90 days with no intervention from staff.

This is a shameless, gigantic lie. I have heard a lot of stories over the years about rude or "bad" staff members, banning people for no reason. Maybe some of them were true, maybe some weren't. But in this case, what this guy did, just blew the competition out of the water. I ignore the fact that the people who got disabled were told on IRC all kind of versions what inactivity meant. (versions that were nowhere to be found, in the rules, FAQ, in the forum or any place in that site in general). I totally ignore that no warnings of any kind were given about the so called cleanup. These are just misdemeanors. But to lie about it to so many people, to their faces!!! And after doing that, to imply that all those people are nothing more than rotten eggs and that he regrets having them admitted to his precious site!!!
Yeah, you truly made history in the torrenting society, my friend.
Undoubtedly, you deserve to be always remembered as a reference point.

Nop, accs. that were created on free singup and were active remained.

They should really give users invites, now the only way in is trough irc and for that a tracker needs to be really good for people to even bother, now anly 800 accs remain on the tracker.

Tracker doesnt look bad but they really need more active comunity.

After what happened on Reddit (many disabled members made a big deal out of the situation on TtN), this is what TtN's staff posted on Reddit a few hours ago:

I hope this helps to clarify a thing or two. The reasons have been clearly outlined for the recent cleanup of accounts. However, I do understand that I may well have upset some people. I am quite prepared to swallow my pride and admit in those cases I was wrong. I'm not infallible and mistakes were made. So I have two things to say:

    • I am sorry to those that were caught up unnecessarily in the cleanup.
    • I'd like to announce an unconditional general amnesty for any Reddit user that wishes to have their account reactivated.
Everybody can make his own conclusions.
Just a tiny query. Is that general amnesty limited to Reddit and why?
