Actor Sidhharth released the poster of Tamizh Padam 2.0 taking a sly dig at piracy website Tamil Rockers.

Producer Sashikanth will produce the second part of the 2010 spoof Tamizh Padam which will be directed by Amudhan CS. Actor Siddharth released the poster of the film today on social media and took a sly dig at pirate website Tamil Rockers. The poster confirmed that Tamizh Padam 2.0 will be released on May 25, 2018 and will also be releasing on the pirate website Tamil Rockers the next day, May 26, 2018. The original, Tamih Padam, was released in 2010 and was the directorial debut of Amudhan CS. The film starred Shiva and Disha Pandey in the lead roles and was a hit film because of the spoof episodes in the film. Tamizh Padam was later remade in Telugu with Allari Naresh in the lead role.

Now, the sequel of Tamizh Padam will be directed by Amudhan CS himself and will be produced by popular producer Sashikanth under his banner YNot Studios. Siddharth released the poster on his Twitter page today and wrote – “Ellame inimey oru maadhiriya dhaan nadakkum! Happy to launch the release poster of #TP2point0 No theory. Only practical. A @csamudhan classic. Starring Akila Ulaga Superstar @actorshiva Puratchi producer @sash041075 Joooot!!!”

Taking the sarcasm one level up, Siddharth later tweeted saying his Twitter page has hacked and whatever posted during that time was not him. “Sorry my account has been hacked last 6 minutes. I have reported to cyber crime and they solved it. Hackers have released some objectionable tweets. It’s not me. Thank you. #TP2point0,” Siddharth wrote further. This sarcasm on the pirate sites and the piracy of films in Tamil film industry took some time to sink in and a lot of people expressed shocked, initially, after looking at the poster.

However, after few minutes, everyone realised the sarcasm that was fun intended towards piracy and left many people in splits. Indian film industry has been fighting the piracy bug for a long time now and efforts by the producers’ council to eradicate piracy. President of Tamil Film Producers’ Council has been fighting the piracy war and recently succeeded in getting one of the admins of a pirate website getting arrested in this case.

Tamizh Padam 2.0, which is being referred to as TP 2.0, will have the same cast and crew who featured in the original 2010 release. It will be interesting to see the concept and the storyline director Amudhan will pick up for the sequel. The shooting of the film will begin on December 11th, 2017 as suggested in the poster. The makers are aiming to release the film in May 2018 and surely will be one of the most waited for movie in the Tamil film industry now.

Producer Sashikanth has been having a great run in the last three years with two hits under his belt – Irudhi Suttru and Vikram Vedha. Irudhi Suttru had R.Madhavan and Ritika Singh in the lead roles and the story of the film was woven around the sport boxing. The film was released in Tamil and Hindi, as Saala Khadoos, and the both the versions did well at the box office. Vikram Vedha, again, starred Madhavan and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles along with Shraddha Srinath and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The film was set in the erstwhile North Madras and was an encounter between a ruthless cop and a fearless criminal. Madhavan played the cop in Vikram Vedha while Vijay Sethupathi played the criminal in the film.

Director CS Amudhan has made only one film in his career, as a director, which was Tamizh Padam and now the sequel, TP 2, will be his second film as a director. Amudhan has also penned down the lyrics for the song ‘Oh Mahazeeya’ in his directorial debut and ‘You Live Only Once’ in the film Anegan. With second film under his belt, Amudhan will be quite kicked about the film. Amudhan had also announced another film titled ‘Rendavathu Padam’ starring Vimal, Remya Nambeesan, Aravind Akash and Richard. However, the film never saw the light of the day and has been delayed for a long time now. Reports are doing rounds that the film might hit the shooting floors in 2018 post the release of ‘Tamizh Padam 2’.
