Hi everyone,

100,000 perfect FLACs! We continue to be amazed at the efforts of our growing user base in building the library here at PassTheHeadphones. We're also grateful for all of the hard work to report torrents over the past 24 hours or so, and we're doing our best to catch up with the backlog.

We've also been working hard on another of our most pressing issues: the logchecker. As I'm sure you know by now, we're using a rather old version of the code, and it's going to be a long and testing process to update it to the high standards we've become accustomed to. There's no easy fix, sadly.

However, we have been able to come to a solution on another early issue. When PassTheHeadphones appeared just over a week ago, we didn't have a logchecker for a short time. We also had some teething problems when it was first introduced. This meant that many logs were unscored, and you may be have found FLAC / Log / Cue to be a familiar sight.

These logs are not saved in our system. As such, we have had a difficult policy decision to make with regard to how to handle the issue. To complicate the matter further, many users have trumped these unscored logs, and around 90% of our current reports are trumping requests, rescore requests, or duplicate uploads.

The short version of this is that we have coded a system that allows users to see their unscored logs, upload them to the system, and have them automatically scored and added to the torrent. Not only do we feel that this is the fairest option, but it should also mean in the long-term that rescore requests are no more if you ever forget on the original upload.

Early on we promised the users that uploaded torrents before the logchecker was introduced that we would rescore them rather than allow them to be trumped. As such, we are offering a seven day amnesty for uploaders to add their unscored logs to the system. In this time, these logs will not be trumped, and any duplicates uploaded will be removed as dupes.

We understand that some users may be frustrated with this solution, particularly those that have trumped these in good faith. However, in consulting with our early uploaders, we have found that it would be more upsetting to go back on our promise and to remove these uploads simply because our system did not work. We accept that some of the later uploads are also better seeded, but we feel this is the best course of action to take.

In order to see if you have missing logs and to add them to the system, go to:

Logchecker.php

Note: For any uploads with multiple logs, please select all of the logs at once. The system will not give you a read-out per disc, but rest assured they are all stored and scored as normal.

Note 2: If the score doesn't append instantly, this is a cache issue and it will update eventually. Rest assured that the upload alone is all you need to do, you do not need to report a lack of any change to us.

We hope that you'll like this new feature, and that you'll be able to upload your missing logs over the next week. If you have any questions, please post in the announcement thread.

Thank you,

Vika and the PtH staff
