Over the course of the next five weeks we will be showcasing groups and artists that have multiple releases spanning over their respective career’s, whether it be as part of a band, pseudonyms, side projects or solo work, giving you the opportunity to explore new music and listen with a dedicated freeleech period. In addition, we'd also like to promote thoroughly filling in the gaps for each selected artist and encourage everyone to participate where they can by uploading missing releases and editions.

New FLAC uploads attributed to these selections will be made freeleech for the duration of the event. We ask that you please report any qualifying torrents that you upload using the report type "Other" and enter FL in the report comment field. Mp3 uploads will not qualify for freeleech status unless it can be shown that the release is not available in FLAC.

To maintain standards and keep the level of moderation and editing to a minimum, please take note of the following:

Pay attention to NWCD's Official Folder Naming Standards and use of edition.txt files
Check your edition has not already been uploaded and ensure your edition information is correct
Use the official title given and ensure you use the correct spelling
Include full lineage for vinyl uploads wherever possible
Report any dupes, mistakes or incorrect uploads

Max Richter
Round 1, Pick #2

Artist Page | Official Site | Discogs

Max Richter’s work embodies both the rigour of the Classical tradition and the experimentalism of contemporary electronica. Heart-stopping orchestral writing and mind-bending synthesis co-exist in his work; as he says, ‘Music exists beyond boundaries’. Richter writes beautifully crafted, intelligent work that is disarming in its honesty; his music, despite its underlying sophistication, appears simple.

Almost uniquely among contemporary Classical composers, Richter’s music is radically unafraid of appealing directly to our emotions. Numerous Classical No.1 records and streaming numbers measured in the hundreds of millions, together with sell-out shows at the world’s premiere venues, including London’s Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Philharmonie de Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Berlin’s Berghain are testament to Richter’s wide appeal.

Although long a staple of the avant-garde, by virtue of his influential solo albums, Richter’s name has recently seeped into public consciousness through his many collaborations with filmmakers.

Richter’s 2012 Recomposed: The Four Seasons topped the classical charts in 22 countries, while its follow up, the eight-and-a-half-hour epic SLEEP explored new ways for music and consciousness to interact. Richter’s overnight performances of SLEEP have been performed across the globe for thousands. (Taken from maxrichtermusic.com)
