The popularity and accessibility of Netflix has affected the way Bittorent is used. People are taking to Netflix and moving away from piracy.

According to a report by Sandvine, Netflix + Google + Facebook = The Internet? Bittorent and Netflix seem to be conflicting. The report says that Neflix has become more dominant in North America with more than 36 % of bandwidth being used during peak hours of internet use.

Although a lot of piracy is still prevalent in all entertainment industries, the total volume of content being used illegally has fallen. Netflix have confirmed to the world that their business model is effective and has a positive impact on the industry.

Though, Netflix is not the only video on demand service available, but it seems to be the most popular. Bittorent's share in bandwidth has dropped to about 6 %, which is a lot lesser than what it used to be. Bittorrent once made up 30 % of bandwidth use but in the past 5 years it has lost a lot of its users.

Although this can be thought of as a positive change at least for Netflix, Bittorent does not only mean pirating content. The concept of File sharing is still alive . However it is no longer being ruled over by p2p and torrents or file sharing platforms.
