The Polish DTH platform nc+ has taken significant steps to tackle the illegal distribution of leading sports events to which it holds the rights.

Quoting Paulina Smaszcz-Kurzajewska, the head of communication at the platform, Wirtualne Media reports that in the first eight months of this year this involved either the blocking or removal of over 1,500 clips or streams of football games from the Champions League, Premier League and Poland’s Ekstraklasa.

Wirtualne Media also notes that nc+ has for a number of years had a specialised unit tackling piracy.

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, nc+ has also been particularly active recently in clamping down on copyright infringements of Belfer, the most watched Canal+ series in Poland to date.
