It's always sad to see a site go down, especially when site staff and users are so nice. Just got this in email:

Dear ********,

The sound of inevitability has been playing in the background for quite some time now, and it is with a sad heart that must announce that the sound will soon fade. Reassu.me will be shutting down in September of this year.

No, this isn't one of those scaremongering posts, trying to get people to donate to try to keep the site alive - the site will be closing its doors to its members after having been alive for 3 years.

By "alive" we really mean "struggling to survive". RM only had one good thing above every other site, and that was its community - but when a community dwindles into nonexistence, then the site has nothing. It's fair to say that the community has dwindled to almost non-existence, and both myself and ChronoX agree that it's not worth trying to keep alive. We have both been in this game for a very long time - we've done it all there are no more challenges to face which has removed the drive and enthusiasm of running such a site.

No site would have been complete of course without the assistance and collaboration of its members - both past and present. The site has been run on generosity, kindness and hard effort from many dozens of people over the years, with very few exceptions. I would like to mention names and what they've meant for me and this site, but I won't include it in this initial forum post (and e-mail). Needless to say, we greatly thank all of those who contributed towards the site in a positive way.

Our Administrators - Who have helped us Administer the site - from choosing FLS to recruiting uploaders
Our Moderators - Who have kept the forum in shape, looked after the people and provided account assistance where it was required
Our Uploaders - without whom there would be no content on this site. Unlike other popular sites, RM does not - and has never provided its own content - it's always been done to these guys and gals.
Our Firstline Support - who have acted as a buffer between the users and the staff, filtering out the easy questions
And our VIP's - who have participated greatly in the community, arranging events and even spinning tunes on the radio for peoples enjoyment

All of these people are what made RM - and a possible former site - great. To you, we say, thanks very much.

No site would exist without a user base to serve - and to you - we also say, thank you. Thank you for giving us purpose, and an opportunity to include you in our community.

So what happens now?

- The Tracker part of the website will shut down on Sunday the 11th of September and the home page will be left with a small message stating that it's closed. You can continue using the forums for a bit after, but it will be closed at the end of September.
- IRC may still be available after this time, and it become unrestricted (i.e. anybody can join). This will be here so that people who want to, can still keep in touch with each other without resorting to Facebook or other social media where anonymity is not guaranteed.
- The current running competition (IdleRPG) will continue to run, and we will continue to provide a prize to the winner
- Uploaders can choose to continue to provide content, but under the circumstances, we would understand if they choose not to.
- Asking for, and offering invites to other trackers is now permitted on the forums - provided that our fundamental principles are adhered to. In other words, you cannot trade invites, they must be given freely, and without strings attached.

Once again, we are truly sorry that we have come to this decision - but as the saying says - there is no use flogging a dead horse We hope that you leave us in the spirit that you've been here as members, and that is to have been proud to be part of this legacy. We certainly are.

Best wishes to everybody!
