Kim Dotcom to Enter Political Games
A few days ago Kim Dotcom claimed that he is going to enter the political arena. In the interview to TorrentFreak, the online entrepreneur confirmed that his political program has already been drafted and he has already met potential candidates. So the chances are that a brand new party will battle in the November 2014 elections.
As you remember, the shutdown of Dotcom’s MegaUpload empire, followed by confiscation of his considerable assets, made life harder for the businessman last year. But 20 months passed and Kim Dotcom is showing what can be done with hard work and determination. His Mega.co.nz new service is doing great, with his popularity still rising, both online and locally with Kiwis.
Indeed, with TV appearances now becoming a regular thing, New Zealanders seem to have become more and more comfortable with the German-born entrepreneur. So it wasn’t a big surprise for the industry observers that Dotcom wanted to make best use of that valuable asset.
If you follow Dotcom on Twitter, you might have noticed his message suggesting that he plans to enter the political arena. Although Dotcom might want to become PM, today he admits that at least for now, that will not be possible, because he is not a citizen of New Zealand, so he cannot be elected into Parliament himself. However, he still can be the president of a new party. All he needs is to form that brand new party. Thus far, Dotcom has created a draft political program and is now in the early stages of meeting potential candidates to join him.
The elections in question will take place in next November and Mega founder believes he has a lot of time to get the party registered and the program finalized. Hopefully, Dotcom will manage to attract quality candidates within the next few months. He admits he is very excited about the party and he is sure he will be able to help make New Zealand a significant online economy player. The country needs to be led into the future, but the present government has no idea what the future looks like.
Considerable support for Kim Dotcom in New Zealand will be a very interesting thing to behold, especially in light of the US’ plans for him. Anyway, it will be an interesting issue to watch at the very least.
