Hydra.zone News - One year anniversary and shut down announcement

    Hello, Goodbye and See 'ya

It is a time for celebration, Hydra Zone exists since over a year. Time flew by and not much happened. This was certainly caused by several reasons, but this is not a post to excuse downtime, slow development and lack of events and updates.

Instead this is a post to announce that this project will be put on hiatus for an undefined time. This decision was made when multiple staff members shifted their focus to other important projects and real life. Other important factors for the decision were the low user activity and high server costs. Even though there were handful of donators, the amounts donated during the last year did not even cover a month of server costs.

The servers that run Hydra Zone will expire next month. We will shortly provide a way to download your uploads' metadata in a format that can be easily uploaded to other Gazelle trackers. administrator will keep a full backup of the site, but you can request that we erase your personal information from the backup if want that for some reason. Once the main site is down you can reach administrator at hydra.zone@tuta.io for such requests.

It was a nice experience to build up not only the tracker itself but also the community and collecting experience about how to manage a user base and in general how to run a tracker. As it might be obvious to some of you, this was a first for most in the team including the sysops. I think we can say that we did manage to create a rather unique experience for everyone with a ratioless music tracker.

Thank you for this awesome time everyone!

I remember Hydra was the fifth music trackers after WCD's down: nostream, apollo, passtheheadphones, notwhat and hydra.
    Yeah, it should go down.
In my mind in my head this is where we all came from
Dreams we had the love we shared this is what we're waiting for
