It took BitTorrent Inc. half a year of work and development, but it has finally released a new Google Chrome extension named Surf.

The BitTorrent’s latest extension now allows to turn Google Chrome into a downloading platform. Surf extension enables everyone to search for and download torrents directly from their Internet browser.

So, how does Surf work? The extension uses several major search engines (including Google, Yahoo!, and Bing) to find and add user’s torrent queries. At the same time, it also allows users to add their own favorite sites. BitTorrent explains that Surf’s powerful integrated search function also provides site auto-detection and built-in custom discovery. If you know what you like already, just save your favorite websites and create your own combined engine.

The extension is also able to analyze and display the torrent’s health, thus helping users to make a right choice and opt for the best quality media. Right now, BitTorrent’s extension is only available for Chrome, but the company promised to release one for Firefox soon as well.

Main features of Surf, listed on the official website, include easily finding torrents through various search engines, automatic detection of search services, user-friendliness, customization and notifications.
