Important Information Regarding V2

This is a general announcement regarding the new website for Blu-bits, which we are calling V2.

As you may have noticed in this thread, BluCrew has created a brand new website front-end that finally pushes the boundaries of design and functionality again for future torrent sites. Most existing torrent site codebases, such as Gazelle or Xbtit have ceased development so BluCrew’s UNIT3D codebase is a very welcome sight.

We have decided that the future of Blu-bits lies with BluCrew’s UNIT3D codebase. Switching to this new codebase will fix our current bugs and open the way for future improvements and new features. There is however a downside that we cannot take lightly. That downside is that we will not be able to migrate any existing data to the new site so essentially Blu-bits will be doing a reboot. We are considering to offer users to transfer over their upload/download stats, but we have not decided on that yet. If you’re wondering why we cannot to migrate any site data, it’s a matter of time and effort that we do not have at this time.

Now our next step is to start a beta with the new site. This beta will be used to test drive the new site and make adjustments where needed. If you’d like to join our beta, please send me (ScroogeMcDuck) a PM with an email address where I can send the invite to. If you’re not interested in actively participating in the beta, please do not apply and just wait until we make a formal switch to the new site.

Once we have moved to the new site, the old/current site will remain online indefinitely to allow re-uploading torrents to the new site. We will however disable all new uploads.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them and I will do my best to answer them.
