OX Sports Latin America has issued a statement supporting the work of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) regarding the complaint of piracy against the OTT service Sportflix.

The complaint for piracy against Sportflix, an OTT service for sports content, resulted in the provisional suspension of the site and the opening of an investigation by the IMPI.

“FOX Sports Latin America wishes to publicly express its support to IMPI for its prompt action to prevent possible crimes or infringements that could affect their rights—both shared and exclusive—over sports competitions, including Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores Bridgestone, Liga de Campeones CONCACAF, Bundesliga, NFL, MLB, WWE, UFC, Premier Boxing Champions, NASCAR, Dakar Rally, Formula 1, Formula E, Italian Serie A TIM and UEFA Champions League,” the company said in a statement.

“It is important to point out that these actions not only protect the rights of which FOX Sports is a legitimate licensee but also protect consumers, who by providing personal and financial information—credit cards or other means of payment—of themselves or their families to websites of questionable legality, may fall victim to theft or scams, or even become targets of extortion.”
