Piracy is at its peak in the Tamil Film Industry and every new film goes to the torrent sites almost immediately after the release denting into the collections of the movie. Foreseeing this scenario, director Vignesh Shivan of ‘Gang‘ made an appeal to the owners of these pirate sites.

He begged the pirate sites not to upload the Sankranthi releases as a lot of hard work goes into making a film amidst tax issues, industry issues and a lot has gone into releasing the films. The way he expressed his plea was heart-touching. But, will it really appeal to the miscreants?

He pleaded not only for his film, Suriya’s ‘Thaana Serndha Koottam’ (‘Gang’ in Telugu) but also for Vikram’s ‘Sketch’ and Prabhu Deva’s ‘Gulaebhagavali’. Only one film’s prosperity will not ensure the prosperity of the industry and hence, Vignesh Shivan’s plea is totally sensible.
