2010-05-25 - Golden Torrent Change -- Please Read!

A little over a year ago we decided to change how Golden Torrents were handled on bitGAMER. Prior to that change, Golden Torrents had counted towards members' ratios. However, we felt that the site was stagnating and that there wasn't enough upload credit out there to make people feel comfortable downloading the games they wanted. Our change last year made all Golden Torrents freeleech all the time. This meant that users could download Golden Torrents for free and seed for an easy ratio boost.

Without a doubt, the change paid off. Not only is bitGAMER now one of the most popular, most active private gaming trackers on the internet, but the average user ratio is now 2.88. This means there's plenty of upload ratio to go around, and we can all see how active the the community has become. We feel the time has come for another tweak.

Starting June 1st, Golden Torrents will now count as 150%/50%. This means that Golden Torrents will count as 150% towards your upload ratio and only 50% towards your download ratio. This is to keep activity high and reward the community for their hard work in making excellent Golden Torrents, but to keep our average user ratio from getting so high that it becomes meaningless.

The bitGAMER community has matured a lot in the last year and we have every single member of the community to thank for that. bitGAMER has some of the most amazing torrent descriptions out there, our forums are lively and inclusive, we have the newest games up as quickly as anybody, and as a reward the staff are constantly hard at work to bring you all sorts of cool stuff (whether it be the upcoming Gazelle switch, the IdleQuest games, the bitGamer on Steam group, etc.). Thanks goes out to everybody here for making bitGAMER an amazing place to be.

One last thing, we would like the announce that freely available content is now allowed. This means that emulators and games that have since become freeware are now allowed to be uploaded. This should make bitGAMER even more of a one-stop resource for your gaming needs.

Best,
// bG Staff
