1. bitGAMER has closed down. This is not a joke.

2. We tried to find new, trusted owners to carry the torch, but after years of attempts fell though, we had no choice but to close down the site. We wouldn't be willing to transfer sensitive database data to a third-party that we're not well acquainted with.

3. We didn't give advance warning due to the nature of the site. We don't want to give any advance notice in case someone was ready to kick someone's door in at the last minute.

4. If you are a donor, then we greatly appreciate your support that allowed bitGAMER to live a long, successful life in the service of its community. If you donated within the last month, then you can contact an administrator to get a refund.

5. We are shutting down because it's time for us to move on. There are no secret meaning beyond what was posted on the front page.

6. Lastly, thanks again for all of your support over the years. 7 years is a long time for any site to live, especially a site of this nature. We appreciate your support which has allowed us such a long life.

I understand you closing down. But I the answer you gave for not telling anyone that you guys were closing and just gave free leech at the very last minute is just bull. I know a few people that were working on a few projects and now there efforts were wasted now. You could have at lest send a message to the elite or top tier or top donators. For you to do that was to me a slap in the face of the community or at least the people who donated something because without them that site wouldn't have been successful at all. Again, I understand you guys not wanting to do the site anymore but the way you went about it was wrong.

RIP Bitgamer, you'll be missed

Freeleech before closing is actually a pretty good idea, because all the more popular content will be saved by people. In fact, there are still 11 peers connected to my box for the most popular bG torrent (the Good Old Games collection).
GGn seems like a good place to go to. Or UG.

Very sad to see bG go, though...was probably the best.

wow i literally got invited to this site a few days ago didnt get to use and now its gone sad day imo.
