After careful deliberation and number of discussions we have decided to treat all 10-bit encodes equally.
Staying true to our goal of accepting only the best releases regardless of the way it's encoded all releases will have to be compared before the best one is accepted for every group we accept.

So what does this mean? Well, usually where we already accepted 10-bit version where as 8-bit was kept it was because the newer encode was in some way deemed better, and the 8-bit will be removed. However we may allow some exceptions in group D if there is reason for it. New releases will be compared like normal.
You should also bear in mind that this does not mean all BakaBT content is now going to be replaced, only the stuff that gets reworked, and that a number of fansubbers have already embraced 10-bit and most newer stuff will usually be released in 10-bit.

As far as compatibility is concerned disregarding hardware players, which are usually incapable of playing HD encodes, most PCs that were able to process HD encodes and high bitrates with proper codec/video player.
